Kodaikanal is a longer journey from Mysuru and is best treated as a proper holiday, not an overnight dash. Four days gives the transfer and hill stay room to breathe.
At a glance
- Recommended: 4 days / 3 nights
- Plan meal and comfort breaks
- Keep the first evening near town
- Confirm interstate charges in writing
Day 1: the long outward journey
Begin early, agree on meal stops and avoid attaching a full sightseeing programme to arrival day. After check-in, keep the evening around Kodaikanal Lake or the town centre.
Day 2: classic Kodaikanal
Group Coaker's Walk, Bryant Park, the lake and nearby town sights. Their compact location leaves time for a relaxed lunch and weather changes.
Day 3: viewpoints and forest side
Use a separate day for Pillar Rocks, Guna Caves surroundings, Pine Forest or other permitted viewpoints. Access and visibility can change, so keep the exact list flexible.
Day 4: calm return
Check out after breakfast and start the drive without a dense attraction list. Confirm tolls, permits, parking, driver allowance and night-driving terms before booking.
